Quizá el triunfo en “Mi Pequeño Museo” es esa mezcla de lo sagrado y lo profano, cosas que son como Dios para la historia del arte, y juguetes casi descartables que los chicos rompen por capricho.
La idea nace al plantear,e la posibilidad de acercar algo tan bastardo por lo seriado y lo básico de su diseño (de rigidez germánica), algo con tantas limitaciones desde lo expresivo y desde el movimiento, al vasto mundo de la plástica y de la historia del arte. Este acercamiento me reveló un mundo de limitaciones que me atrajo de inmediato. Vi que había cuadros que eran compatibles con el mundo del Playmobil, y otros que al realizar el pasaje se resignificaban como sucede con lo familiar vuelto extraño (¡Freud dixit!). Tal es el caso del Cristo Muerto de Mantegna, donde esa sonrisa boba (o maniática) impresa en el rostro se me vuelve inquietante. Otras versiones como las de Brueghel en la que el Playmobil interactúa con un vasto paisaje y éste se resiste a participar de la escala del juguete, produciendo una tensión que me parece atractiva.
Es muy singular. Todos piensan en movimientos de vanguardia o la actualidad, pero casi nadie se detiene a pensar de cosas de hace 400 años.
En cuanto a lo temporal nunca pretendí nada con la vanguardia, creo que ya se está de vuelta de todo y no me molesta ser anacrónica aunque eso también es difícil lograrlo. Por eso toda mirada hacia la pintura clásica en cierto modo es una experiencia vanguardista. Como bien decís, con Botticceli, o Piero de la Francesca; del cual hice el doble retrato de los Montefeltro, y al hacer un Playmobil tan en primer plano, la representación gira hacia una propuesta neocubista pop con un toque de constructivismo ruso. Y el Playmobil muestra sus taras, sus impedimentos, la primera es la imposibilidad de mostrar algún sentimiento.
También es un proceso de selección. No cualquier clásico viene bien.
En cuanto al proceso de la obra miro mucho libros de arte y entre todas las obras siempre aparece alguna que me parece compatible con el mundo Playmobil, entonces comienzo a hacer algunos bocetos que me acercan al cuadro definitivo. Siempre hago cambios, pero trato de que no se perciban demasiado. El resultado es cómo capturar una obra de la historia del arte y trascribirla a mi colección personal. Es como capturar y contaminar una obra, reconvertirla, y playmobilizarla definitivamente, y asi continuar la construcción de este museo.
Hay un humor implícito. Sombrío, pero está.
El humor viene solo al ser consecuente con esta primera idea, los personajes al adquirir la estructura corporal de los Playmobil y mostrar así todas sus limitaciones, paradójicamente obtienen una «humanización» por default. En mi infancia yo jugué con las Barbies, no con los Playmobil, que son posteriores. Pero a diferencia de las Barbies, los playmóbiles reinterprestan todo el mundo, perros, máquinas, animales domésticos, paisajes, y entonces eso lo vuelve todo más interesante, en definitiva son una forma perversa del mundo real. En cambio la Barbie es una negociación con el mundo real, que intenta ser agradable y disimular sus verdaderas limitaciones. El Playmobil en cambio las muestra obscenamente.
Además de que tenés un montón, ¡tenés un montón de otras cosas! Daniel también colecciona. Se debe tornar en un caos, calculo.
Con Daniel coleccionamos de todo, desde muñecos de comics, hasta insectos, caracoles, minerales, libros, maquetas y cualquier cosa que hagan los chicos. El último objeto mas interesante fue un Bender de Futurama de lata con estética retro de los 40, a cuerda y funciona, incluye botella de cerveza y habano. No podemos parar.
