Ahora mismo Miss Tacuarembó es también una película (dirigida por Sastre, sí, y protagonizada por Oreiro), pero ya no es “sólo eso”, porque Miss Tacuarembó es también un oráculo. Recién hoy, cinco + cinco años después, el texto de contratapa se escapa del libro y se ajusta a la actriz-cantante-diseñadora-bomba-atómica-arg-uru con emotiva y justa distinción. Dice el librito: “Más que nunca deseo ser una mujer independiente, que sabe perfectamente lo que quiere y cómo conseguirlo, que no tiene que darle explicaciones a nadie, que no tiene que cargar con nadie, que no pierde el sentido de la elegancia y el equilibrio en un mundo hecho a su medida”.
Hace años la profecía estaba escrita y hoy está cumplida, y que esa mujer que no pierde el sentido de la elegancia y del equilibrio en un mundo hecho a su medida se encuentre preparando un té en la cocina de su casa de Palermo, y que vayamos a tomarlo en unos minutos (infusión: 3-4 minutos) me parece, sencillamente, un milagro, uno por el que tendría que agradecerle a Jesusito (o a Mike Amigorena, su co-star en Miss Tacuarembó) en continuado, desde ahora y hasta el fin de los tiempos. La mejor parte de las “Predicciones de Tacuarembó”, sin embargo, habrá que buscarla en los márgenes, o, retrospectivamente, en el camino que lleva a Oreiro a encontrarse con ellas. En el empeño permanente en seguir siendo una actriz, que hace cosas aquí (música) o allá (moda), pero sin renunciar a la posibilidad de combinar seriedad y frescura. Muchos piensan que son cualidades irreconciliables esas dos, pero está claro, ella deja en claro, que no es así. Y en cuanto pudo empezar a jugar según sus propias reglas, seriedad y frescura pasaron a ser partes indivisibles de un mismo grupo nominal. Seriedad y frescura en Las Oreiro, la marca de ropa que lleva con su hermana Adriana, seriedad y frescura como único camino para lograr la locura que marcó cada entrega de su último gran éxito televisivo, la encantadora Sos mi vida, o para saltar en su propio múltiplex privado de una comedia romántica (Música en espera) a un pequeño y poderoso retrato doméstico (Francia) y de allí al kitsch desaforado de Miss Tacuarembó, la película del uruguayo Martín Sastre.
Lo que sigue es el resultado de tres riquísimas tazas de té “en lo de Oreiro”, infusionadas durante el mismo fin de semana en el que Argentina perdía con Alemania y Uruguay le ganaba a Ghana, otra profecía que seguramente estaba escrita también, pero en otro libro.
Usualmente hacés escapadas al campo, a Carmelo, a Punta Gorda en Uruguay.
Es que cuando estoy en el campo me gusta hacer nada. Tirarme debajo de un árbol, dormir una siesta, salir a caminar. Eso me recarga mucho. Siempre tuve necesidad de tener un espacio así. Podía vivir en un departamento, pero siempre con mis plantas, mis malvones. Siempre que tuve un ratito fui a descalzarme a algún lado con tierra. La contracara de eso es que soy una muchacha inquieta. Siempre lo fui. Toda la vida. Soy curiosa, me gusta emprender cosas. Soy ese tipo de soñadora que necesita la concreción de las cosas. No es que tengo un sueño y me quedo en el éter delirando. Se me ocurre algo y al mismo tiempo me pregunto: ¿lo puedo hacer? Para mí la vida nunca pierde la frescura.
En ese punto fuiste cambiando, o buscando nuevas cosas. Como si sólo con la actriz no te alcanzara. ¿Es así?
Puede tener esa lectura, sí. Pero yo lo veo todo como una consecuencia de la actuación misma. Lo que tuvo que ver con el vestuario, por ejemplo, siempre estuvo muy ligado a mí como actriz, porque siempre me encargué de los vestuarios. Siempre propuse y muchas veces hice la ropa yo misma, directamente. Con el tiempo me conseguí “una loca”, una socia, que es mi hermana, cuyo sueño es hacer eso, y que me dio el trampolín para poder intentarlo. La música también fue una consecuencia de la actuación: la primera vez que canté fue en una película.
La música parece haber quedado más de lado.
Yo soy una actriz que canta. Cuando era más chica y sacaba discos, los acompañaba con giras. Canté en muchísimos lugares, en lugares inauditos, no sabés. Pero llegó un momento en el que ya lo había hecho muchas veces y dejó de divertirme. Necesitaba otra vez actuar.
¿Cómo fue el proceso de gestación de Las Oreiro con tu hermana Adriana? Te lo pregunto por eso de no quedarte en el éter soñando y necesitar concreción urgente de las cosas.
Así como a veces me puedo pasar semanas enteras en el campo sin hacer nada, otra avanzo como un toro. Tauro con ascendente en Tauro, imaginate… Adri y yo, de chicas, cuando nuestras amigas tomaban clases de ballet, estudiábamos corte y confección. Yo tenía 12 y mi mamá nos mandó a las dos a estudiar corte y confección. Mamá siempre nos cosió la ropa. Ella veía una oferta de tela escocesa y todo era tela escocesa: vestido, camisa, pantalón… Todo. Con Adri estudiamos dos años, y de hecho cuando empecé a dar mis primeros pasos como modelo y actriz, mi hermana me ayudó a hacerme la ropa para ir a castings y presentaciones. Nos divertía compartir eso.
¿Y cómo sigue?
Yo me vengo para acá; mi hermana se enamora de un uruguayo y se va a vivir a México porque a él le sale un laburo como publicitario, y allá se pone a estudiar la carrera de diseño de indumentaria. Y cuando se recibe, le propongo cumplir nuestro sueño de chicas, de cuando jugábamos a la boutique. Empezamos de cero. No éramos empresarias poniendo un negocio.
¿Por qué funcionó, entonces?
Éramos dos hermanas haciendo una línea de ropa. Creo que por eso funciono: por fresco, por diferente. Hacemos vestiditos para chicas coquetas. Y evidentemente había un montón de chicas coquetas que no encontraban qué ponerse.
Natalia dice que en los primeros dos años de Las Oreiro invirtió a full su tiempo allí, y que ahora acompaña pero compartiendo horario con una nueva (y al parecer ultra satisfactoria) vuelta a la actuación. Se la ve entusiasmada por la inminente apertura de un segundo local, en Paseo Alcorta, y de ninguna manera toma distancia, pero pone las cosas en su justo lugar: “Yo no quiero ser empresaria, nunca me interesó”. Quiere seguir siendo actriz, y hasta que regrese a la TV (cosa que posiblemente ocurra en 2011), actriz de cine: encadenó Francia y Miss Tacuarembó, está por filmar Mi primera boda (con Mike Amigorena y a las órdenes de Ariel Winograd, director de Cara de Queso) y la aguarda un nuevo proyecto junto con Adrián Caetano, Mala, “la historia de una asesina a sueldo de hombres maltratadores, como una vengadora de mujeres golpeadas”, aclara. Dice que de todos los proyectos de TV que hizo sólo en un par encontró unos márgenes de libertad que hicieron de la experiencia “otra cosa”, que en el cine por ahora no se topó con papeles fáciles o rutinarios, y que la búsqueda, tal como lo aseguraba la profecía, debe ir por ese lado: “Quiero tener otro color de actriz, me aburro en la repetición. Me doy cuenta de que determinado tipo de rol me queda fácil y pienso: qué desperdicio. Es mucho más divertido equivocarte haciendo algo que no te sale tan bien o que no funciona como lo otro. Le huyo bastante a eso. Rechazo cosas que me atan a ese lugar.”
En esa voluntad de probar la gama entera del Pantone actoral, puede pasar de una película chiquita y llena de silencios y miradas como Francia (“con un personaje que nadie me había pedido jamás que hiciera: una chica común, una chica a la que dejás en Retiro y nadie se da vuelta para mirarla, con problemas que son comunes a un montón de gente”), a una súper chillona, cumbre cult del pop rioplatense como Miss Tacuarembó, con Rossy de Palma, Graciela Borges y Amigorena haciendo de Cristo. Cuenta una pequeña anécdota, Natalia, que grafica el contraste entre las cosas que ella está dispuesta hacer y lo que de ella se espera. Es así: Adrián Caetano la filmó en una escena limpiando un inodoro, y en el montaje el editor decidió no incluirla. Cuando el director le preguntó por qué, el montajista le respondió: “Es que… ¡¿cómo voy a poner a Natalia Oreiro limpiando un inodoro?!”.
Supongo que la tele querrá básicamente el modelo “Oreiro tradicional”…
Ojo, que es una tentación muy grande la tele. Te ofrece popularidad, adrenalina, que es muy necesaria para esta carrera, te hincha el ego de una manera espantosa, hay que saber que eso viene incluído. Pero a veces hay una tremenda falta de libertad. De lo que hice en televisión rescato dos proyectos en los que me sentí libre. Sólo dos, e hice un montón de novelas, Muñeca Brava y Sos mi vida. Ahí de verdad disfruté. Soy una trabajadora, y siempre trato de rescatar lo bueno. Pero disfrutar, disfrutar, sentir que tenía libertad para hacer, sólo en esas dos. De cualquier manera todo pasa. Por suerte, siempre. Y uno puede volver a elegir.
